Articulator in dentistry
The articulator can simulate lower jaw movements in order to determine the interaction of the rows of teeth with one another for the production of dentures. The technical device is used by the dentist, but also by the dental technician. It is used mechanically to simulate the typical movements of the lower jaw during articulation and thus to determine the dynamics of the rows of teeth with one another. For this purpose, plaster models of the dental arches of the upper and lower jaw are inserted into the articulator.
This creates the best possible conditions for determining the relationship between the rows of teeth as well as articulation disorders. The knowledge gained from working with the articulator is indispensable for the manufacture of dentures, such as prostheses, but also splints. The articulator consists of a support pin and the support pin support plate as well as the articulator joints. In the case of articulators, a distinction is made between the partially and fully adjustable versions.
